Fun at the Library

You know what’s really fun? Sitting at a service desk at the library, and silently stereotyping the people that come for help.

Schooling where we left off

I recently picked my guitar back up. I hadn’t played all last year. I think the last time I picked it up was before Ft. Knox last summer. But the other week, I had a sudden urge to play, and after breaking through the mental cobwebs of not having play in a year, my fingers started getting back into the groove. David and I are thinking about making a music video, not unlike Wong Fu Productions’ have done. We’re looking for a good song to lip sync and act to, and then we’ll film and produce. I think it’ll be fun to do before the summer ends.

Next year is going to be crazy. The VFSA and Commentator are going to keep me very busy. Hopefully I’ll have my Final Select by then, and I’ll be able to cut back on my work hours. Speaking of work, the last senior member of the work place graduated this last week, leaving me to be the most senior member of the work place. As for next year, I have a feeling that it is going to be a lot different than either Freshman or Sophomore year. See and I have agreed that our little group of friends has an amazing amount of sexual energy, and that most or all of us will get in some sort of relationship next year. That’ll be interesting to see. People keep insinuating that I am going to, soon. It’s flattering, but I really don’t care. Because when I don’t care is when I am most myself.

Beaten down in front of the Library

In front of the library today, there were a bunch of middle-school aged kids that were waiting to go in. I stared at them out of curiosity, and one of them was forward enough to say hi. I started talking with him, and asked him what he was here for.

“SEP.”
“What’s that?”
“Well, if you were smart, you’d know.”

BURN! I have never been so blatantly and unprovokedly mocked. But I did get to college somehow, didn’t I? It got me thinking about the concept of smart, intelligence, and aptitude. What constitutes smart?

One of these days

Closing in the library, Jin style:

Your attention please. The library is now closing, so that means get the FUCK out.

Or, alternatively:

Enough is enough! I have had it with these motherfucking patrons in this motherfucking library!

Slipping

Last night was horrible. For some reason, I had a horrible coughing and wheezing fit in the middle of the night. I’m fine this morning. Why I don’t feel anything, not even a raspy throat, is beyond me. I faintly remember opening my window in semi-consciousness, in an attempt to alleviate my burdened lungs.

I can almost remember dreaming last night, near the end of my sleep. My alarm woke me at 6:15, as I’m trying to get back into the routine I followed all year. I ended up turning off the alarm and setting a new one at 7:30, but I never heard it go off. I slept soundly, with the sounds of Third Eye Blind serenading me…when suddenly I stirred, and realized that it was 8:30, and I had to be at work at the Laptop Checkout at 8.

SHIT.

This is the third time I have done it this TERM at the Laptop Checkout. It is the only desk where my punctuality is crucial.

I’m glad it’s the end of the year, because I’m really slipping. I’m losing motivation, energy, and focus. I’ve been really productive so far, but I do not feel anything left in me to go on. Two more days…

Incompetence and Procrastination

Here I am blogging, with less than an hour before my first final: Ec 491. I love the class, I got 99 on the midterm, and I’ve done well with my particular professor’s tests for the last two terms. Regardless, I should be studying, but I’m blogging.

I hate incompetent people. People that can’t or don’t read signs, people that can’t figure out how to save in Microsoft Word, people that wiggle a mouse in hopes that it will make a computer work faster, or anybody that can’t figure out simple common tasks. I wonder how these people survive sometimes.

Take, for example, today. At work, our lab happened to run out of printer at the most opportune time: Monday of Finals week. People are printing out their final papers, notes, and they start coming up blank and faded. When I got to work, there had already been three (THREE!!!) signs placed on or near the printer area saying DO NOT PRINT HERE, SEND PRINT JOBS TO REFERENCE. And yet, people still printed, and started complaining about their faded print jobs. Sorry bud, can’t help you, you’re too DAMN STUPID or OBLIVIOUS to read a sign. I put one more ON the print monitor that allows people to select their print jobs, and soon thereafter, I saw someone go up, LIFT UP the sign, and PRINT again. I am surprised that these people haven’t died in a revolving door or in an accident with a kitchen sink.

Tell me, if the toilet had a sign that said “Do not flush” would anyone flush it? What about “Do not park”? Would you park there? How about “Danger! Cliff!”? Oh, this looks fun, I think I’ll walk off! I rest my case.
It is times like these that I wish the safety of civilization did not prevent natural selection from happening.
